How it all began

We didn’t know much about making a documentary or what went into it. We questioned whether we’d even be able to do this. Would anyone we reached out to get back to us? We were just two people who saw a gap in the market. A space that needed to be filled. An illness without awareness. Millions suffering from it, feeling alone, unbelieved and dismissed.

So we just started. Oh, and we are a two man team. So when I say “we,” I mean my husband Cort and I. I (Ashley) have the illness myself and a journalism degree and my husband makes films so we decided to combine our resources to do this thing. We committed and just went for it.

We researched. Bought books. Listened to hours of podcasts. This story needed to be told. These voices needed to be heard and we vowed to see it through till the end.

And then, to our surprise, we actually heard back from people...and they wanted to be part of our project! Not only this, but we were shocked to receive an immense outpouring of support and excitement about our film to be. We are still in awe of how everything has come together.

We truly have felt God’s hand on this project from the start because things continued to progress and things we could have never imagined happening, happened. If you’re passionate about a story or topic you feel needs to be out there and are considering the journey of making a film, it’s possible. It’s cliche, but you will never know until you try.
